censorship in China by faiz

In China or People's Republic of China the censorship is conducted under a wide of laws and regulations. More than 60 internet regulations or law have been made by the People's Republic of China (PRC) government itself. But censorship in Hong Kong and Macau are not apply because PRC law are not implied there.

In the beginning, China started its censorship with regulations issued by China's central government :

 1. Temporary Regulation for the Management of Computer Information Network International Connection.

  • This law states that no units or individual are allowed to have a direct international connection for them selves. All linkage must go through ChinaNet, GBNet, CARNET or CSTNET and a license is required if anyone want's an access to the internet.
 2. Ordinance for Security Protection of Computer Information Systems.
  • Issued by the State Council to give the responsibility of internet security to the Minister of Public Security which to supervise, inspect and guide the security protection work and also to investigate criminal cases.
So for my opinion, China is tightening their internet security due to their concern of population in their country. That is why they cant risk anything due to security issues. Nevertheless, this is just the beginning of regulations for internet censorship in China. Bellow is the URL for this info.
